CLEANING AROUND MY BLOCK FINALLY!

I was really excited to pick up trash today!  After 13 days of being inside due to cold weather and then snow, I was hoping today would be warm enough and dry enough to pick up a lot of trash.  It was! I picked up almost 5,000 pieces of trash today!

Before I walked my dogs around the block, I picked up 205 pieces of trash, just around my block!  It was really bad.  When I walked my dogs yesterday, Henry found a napkin and was chewing on it.  Henry loves trash more than I do, but unfortunately, he eats it!

I found a glass liquor bottle. I get so excited when I find glass that isn't broken.  And I found a perfectly good umbrella laying on the grass beside the sidewalk.  I opened it, and it works.  I wish I knew who lost their umbrella.  I would give it to them.

I found a big car part in the grass.  I am always shocked when I find car parts like this.  How do you lose part of your car and not know it?

I carried that big thing all the way home.  I used to feel strange carrying things that were too big for my trash cart.  Now I don't care how silly I look.  I'm keeping my neighborhood beautiful!

And I found two pair of socks with Sponge Bob on them, brand new.   They must have fallen out of a bag.  

I don't know how someone could lose something like this.  I'm not really into Sponge Bob, but I put them in my laundry hamper anyway.  

After I cleaned around my block, I took my dogs for a wonderful walk.  It's amazing how much more enjoyable it is to walk your dogs when you don't have to worry about them eating trash.

After the dogs were taken care of, I went out for three hours.  I had hoped to clean Wilbeth Road, from Arlington to Manchester Road.  It's 3.3 miles long, so if I cleaned both sides, it would be 6.6 miles of walking.  I didn't even come close, but IT WAS THE MOST AMAZING DAY ANYWAY!  

I met some wonderful people including a school teacher who came out of her house and asked me why I was cleaning her yard.  After I told her my story, we became good friends.
