Why Do People Put Trash In Bushes?

I saw this big glass jug stuck in the bushes on Brown Street.

Why do people have such a fascination with sticking cans and bottles in bushes?  

I see this everywhere. When I'm cleaning a street with bushes, I automatically search under and into.  Sure enough, there will be cans and bottles.

Sticking a large jug like this in the bushes is way better than leaving it on the sidewalk or street where it can get smashed.  Especially when there are no trash cans close by.

But wait!  There was a trash can not five feet from these bushes!

Are people who litter a little nuts?  I think they might be.
