S0 MUCH TRASH AT ARLINGTON & WILBETH TODAY!
Anyway, I had hoped to clean all of Wilbeth Road, from Arlington to Manchester. It's 3.3 miles of heavily traveled, heavily littered road, so 6.6 miles if I clean both sides.
I started at the pizza place at Arlington & Wilbeth. This is how it looked. Do you see the crazy big screw? Glad I didn't run over that! The litter was even worse than I thought it would be.
But as bad as it was, it didn't take very long to clean it up. New trash is always easy. It's laying on top of the grass, not buried in the grass.
This is how it looked when I was finished.
I hope it never gets old, the thrill I get when I look at the area I just cleaned. Before and after pictures make me happy. When I see what I did, I smile.
Picking up trash is so easy! Anybody can do it. Just pick up one thing. You will see. It's not hard.
Picking up thousands of pieces of trash a day, however, is not easy, and it would be impossible without my trash grabber and my trash cart. Just bending over to pick up a few pieces can hurt my back. With my trash grabber, I don't have to bend over at all.
And now I can pick up a piece of trash and put it in my bucket without looking. It's automatic. I'm already looking for the next piece of trash when I'm putting trash in the bucket. When the bucket is full, I dump it in the trash bag in my trash cart.
All the grass in these pictures was covered with trash. Now these areas look like they should.
I walked about a mile, and all kinds of unexpected things happened. Be sure to read my blog every day this week. I had hoped to have one blog-worthy thing happen today, and 11 things happened I'll tell you about. You will be amazed!
I can only pick up trash for three hours before my knee starts hurting. So today, I picked up trash for 3 hours, then went home, had lunch, took a hot bath, took a nap, and took the dogs to the school to play ball! Then I went back out for 3 more hours. I tricked my knee into thinking it was a new day!
After my first three hours, my trash grabber broke! I'm at 426,257 pieces after today. My first trash grabber lasted 150,000 pieces. My second one lasted 276,000 pieces! I'd say that's pretty good.
I bent over and picked up a few pieces of trash on my way back to my car, and I remembered why I love my trash grabber!
Thank goodness I have a hundred brand new trash grabbers at home!
100 trash grabbers! Wow! You I prepared.
