I'M ALMOST TO A HALF MILLION PIECES!

 

On Friday, I asked a friend to take a picture of me picking up my 500,000th piece of trash.  I only needed 8, 293 pieces, and I guessed if the weather held out, I would be there by Saturday night.

Of course this wasn't my 500,000th piece, but I thought when I did pick up that piece there would be nobody to take a picture.

So I wore my beautiful KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL vest and gloves, and I sent this picture to my friend, McCall, so she could post an update on her website.

Friday night, I started at the exit ramp from Route 8 to Wilbeth Road.  What a mess!  One of my friends said she drove by and it looked bad.  I try to go to an area somebody tells me about as quickly as I can.

I picked up all the trash (over 500 pieces!) around the homeless guy, who is so nice to me.  He said he was telling people who stopped at the light that I was his wife!  How funny is that?

The bags were so heavy, I'm going to ask Keep Akron Beautiful to help by picking them up on Monday.

After I left there, I continued working on Wilbeth Road, and I found a quarter!  I was so tickled!  Then I found a dollar!  I couldn't believe it.  A little while later, I found a $20 bill!

Do you think what goes around comes around?  That's the only explanation I have right now.  I did a nice thing for the homeless man and the City of Akron, by cleaning that awful mess, and I was rewarded!

I know reaching 500,000 is only half way to a million, but it's a very big deal to me.  It took me 13 months to pick up 500,000 pieces of trash, and I am planning on picking up another 500,000 pieces in just four months?

Is that possible?  I think it's very possible.  Watch me!  I'm so much faster now, and it's almost like I've been training for this.
