WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!

This morning, our Wadsworth driver was robbed at gunpoint.  He lost his truck, his keys and his phone.  I can't even imagine how horrible it would feel to be threatened and violated like that.

I'm out picking up trash every day.  How can I not be scared?  I believe God is keeping me safe, and I refuse to hide in my house and live in fear.

My office is moving tomorrow, and everyone has to help.  I wasn't planning on picking up trash tonight, but when my dear friend, Jaimi, sent me this picture, I had to go out and enjoy this beautiful day!

Thank you, Jaimi!

I went to Lover's Lane & Brown, and it hasn't been cleaned since I cleaned it last.  I picked up 1,860 pieces in two hours, but what a great feeling!  I don't sleep well when I don't pick up trash.

I saw these beautiful flowers in front of the Asian Grocery Store, and the lovely woman I met last summer came out and said, "Hi Debbie!  It's so nice to see you again!"

She remembered me!

I don't remember seeing these flowers in front of her store last summer, so maybe they are new.  They sure look nice without trash.

The next area was the Dollar Store parking lot and the Taco Truck, always messy.  There was a man sitting in his car waiting for his food, and he was so nice to talk to.  I told him my story, and I'm sure it made an impression.

After I finished talking to him, I met another man sitting in his truck waiting for his food.  He said, "You're that woman who cleans Wilbeth.  I work for the Wilbeth Properties, and we are so grateful for what you do.  You really help us."

That made me feel good.  It's great to know people appreciate what I'm doing, even though it doesn't always seem like it.

I picked up a lot of trash on the ground, but I have to remember to look up too.  People are still fascinated with sticking bottles and cans in the bushes and trees.  It sure seems like they could push their trash in the trash can, doesn't it?

After that, two little boys came riding up the sidewalk on their bicycles.  One was about 8 years old, the other maybe 10.  The younger one said, "Thank you for cleaning up the glass on the sidewalks.  Bless you, maam!"

I'm thinking that little boy has good parents.  Somebody is teaching him to be kind to others.

When I was almost back to my car, I found this rusty hammer in the grass.  I can only imagine what it was used for, most likely not pounding nails.

A hammer is not as bad as a knife, but almost.  I love getting stuff like this off the street.

There's nothing like picking up trash to feel really good about yourself.

  1. What beautiful roses. They grew in spite of the trash. How are your helpers? Probably not as motivated as you. 🌹
