My trash pictures are so awful tonight, I decided to start with a picture of one of the kittens living under my next-door neighbor's front porch.  Two don't look so good, but this one is a cutie pie.

I called a cat rescue place in Akron.  I'm hoping someone will come and rescue them, provide some much needed veterinarian care and good food.  I'm hoping.

(If this one keeps looking at me like this when I back out of my driveway, it might be me!)

I think Henry & Stella would love a kitten, but I'm so busy.  And I don't even know how to take care of a cat.  I'm a dog person.

I hope the rescue place calls me and finds a loving home for these little guys.

So I headed for the exit ramp on Waterloo Road.  I noticed it has some trash when I drove by today.  Not a lot, but enough to go clean it up.

As usual, I didn't make it there.  I saw these garbage bags of trash thrown in the bushes and stopped to pick all that up.

Why do people throw trash bags in the bushes?  Do they think they are hidden?

Alert!  They are not hidden!

And then I saw this horrible mess.  My guess is someone got evicted, but if there were only clothing and shoes, I would have left it.

No, there was trash.  Lots of trash, and even though I didn't want to clean all this up, I know if I don't clean it now, I will clean it later as it blows down the street.

So I started at one end and hoped to clean up most of it.  It wasn't gross like Monday night's trash, but I had to make a bunch of trips to the dumpster. That part was very hard.

I heard an interesting story on the radio today.  The top 10 cities for rats.  (I was happy Akron was not on the list!  It would be if messes like this were not cleaned up.)

1) Chicago

2) Los Angeles

3) New York

4) Washington DC

5) San Francisco

6) Detroit

7) Philadelphia

8) Baltimore

9) Denver

10) Cleveland

Now it's all cleaned up, and I feel really good about what I did.
My only question, how can people who live on this street stand to look at a mess like that?

I don't even live here, and I couldn't stand it.

After I finished, I still had enough time left before it got too dark to clean around the playground.

Another mystery.  How can parents let their children play on playgrounds with trash and broken glass everywhere?  I don't understand.

I picked up 1,478 pieces today, and I'm only a few thousand pieces away from 800,000!

Today was a very good day.

  4. I hope the kitties get rescued! I couldn’t believe that mess in front of the house. Oof! What a mess and what a blessing to everyone that you did that hard work.
