I LOVE PICKING UP TRASH AROUND FENCES!
Today, I had high expectations, another big day! Unfortunately, I was tired from yesterday. Only out two hours, and I was dragging.
I managed to clean up three areas, 1,435 pieces, so I'm happy with the results.
I started at Wilbeth & Arlington, and I picked up 613 pieces on this corner.
Then I went to a fenced area by the bus stop on Arlington that I saw trash sticking to the fence from the wind. I love picking up trash around fences! It can't get away from me!
I cleaned the side by the road, and then climbed up the hill and cleaned the inside. The hill was steeper than I thought . . . and I found a knife!
There have been a lot of stabbings in the news. I hope this knife wasn't used to kill somebody. Yikes!
I was very happy to get back to my car.
Then I went to another area on Arlington that looked really bad driving by.
The last time I cleaned here was two summers ago, and a Mexican man ran across the street to warn me there was poison ivy growing here. He didn't speak any English, but he was scratching his arms and pointing to the bushes. I got what he was saying, and I sure didn't want to come back here again.
But I did today. And it wasn't that bad.
I picked up 191 pieces of trash around, under and inside these bushes. It only took 15 minutes!
I'll take fences over bushes any day!
I hate trying to get trash out of the bushes where people creatively stick their bottles and cans.
Thank goodness I have a trash grabber. Not only couldn't I reach all this stuff, but my arms would be all scratched up.
Behind the bushes, I found this mess. If somebody else saw this, they would say, "Oh that's horrible!"
But when I see something like this, I say, "Thank goodness the bottles aren't broken!"
Picking up unbroken bottles is so much easier than sweeping up broken glass.
The bushes could use a little trimming, but the litter is all gone.
Now this whole area looks really good. Most of the businesses on Arlington keep their parking lots picked up. The pizza shop and the Circle K at Wilbeth & Arlington must not have gotten the memo, or they are okay with me cleaning it every week.
So I'll keep cleaning it. I know the folks who live around here appreciate it. And I like living in a clean neighborhood.
I hate the time change. I'm tired enough without that. You did well today
