I SHOULD LOOK UP ONCE IN A WHILE!

I get so focused picking up trash, but I really should look up once in a while.  There was a whole lot going on in the sky today.  It was a beautiful day.

I wanted to clean Main Street, but I still didn't made it there.  I picked up 4,285 pieces of trash today in 11 areas!  I don't think it gets any better than that!

I saw trash at Wilbeth & Main, so I cleaned that up.  Then I headed to my favorite dumpster to throw that trash away.

I drove by the Route 8 exit ramp, where Roger sits.  He's not there.  Lots of trash, and I was tempted to pick it up, but I thought I better leave it alone.  If the City of Akron is helping him, they will clean up this corner.

My favorite dumpster was horrible!  Wow!  I've seen it bad, but never this bad.  I'm thinking there's a lot of angry people in this neighborhood.

I don't understand why they are so disrespectful to each other.

There is nothing better than a great big dumpster.  It never gets full, and it's emptied every week.  Why can't they put their trash in it?  They throw their trash on it and at it, but not in it!

Maybe somebody needs to show them how it's done.

I got that all cleaned up, and headed for the football field.  I saw beer cans there again.

I picked up 8 beer cans and squished them.  That didn't seem to be as many as usual.

I saw a piece of paper halfway across the field, and it was the only thing left to pick up.  I thought about leaving it go, but I went ahead and walked across the field to get it.  It was a dollar!  How cool is that?

I went up Wilbeth, down Virginia, down Palmetto, and my bag was full, so I went to my second favorite dumpster.  It was worse than the other one!

A woman came got out of her car and thanked me for cleaning the area.  She said her 4-year-old grandson lives here, and she sees me everywhere.  I liked that.

After that, I drove to another area on Wilbeth Road, and there were pieces of styrofoam and fast food wrappers everywhere!  The picture doesn't do justice.  What a shame!  Right on Wilbeth Road where everybody is driving by.

Little kids came running when they saw me and helped pick up some of it.  I thanked them.

(If they love picking up trash so much, why don't they do it when I'm not around?  I don't understand.)

I got this whole area cleaned up, and it was heartwarming to see the kids come play in this area again.

I don't blame them for not wanting to play in all that trash!

Then I walked down Wilbeth Road, and I found the rest of the beer cans.  It was almost like somebody knew I was picking them up, and they wanted to make sure I got plenty of exercise.

Then I went to the pizza shop at Wilbeth & Arlington, and cleaned that up again.

Beside the pizza shop is Popeye's Chicken, and there was a young man sitting in a black car waiting for his food, and as I picked up the trash in the grassy area, I saw a McDonald's sandwich wrapper stuck to his bumper!

I pulled it off with my trash grabber, and then I walked up to his window.  He put his window down, and I showed him the wrapper.  He said, "I saw that blowing around, and I thought I missed it!  I guess I didn't!"

How funny is that?

I filled up my recycle bin with cans again.  I'll be headed to the recycle place before I know it if I keep picking up this many cans every day!

My back still hurts a little, but not like yesterday. I'll go to the chiropractor if it's not better in a few days.

What a great day to pick up trash!
