TODAY WAS A REALLY GOOD TRASH DAY!
After six days of cold icy rain, I was finally able to get out and pick up trash today. It felt great!
I had three areas I wanted to clean, but as usual, I didn't get everything done. What I did do, however, made a huge impact.
First, I cleaned around the Speedway at Main & Waterloo. It didn't look that bad, but I picked up 1,717 pieces of trash here! Unbelievable!
I picked up all the trash along this fence beside the Speedway, and the owners of this house happened to drive in. What a lovely couple they were. I enjoyed talking to them so much. Their names are Russ and Renee. I showed Russ how to read my blog on his phone, and I'm sure he will love this post!
He was telling me the homeless people stand in his yard and eat and leave all their trash behind.
I found cans and bottles and half a chair along his driveway.
It looks so nice now.
It's still weedy, but there's no trash now. Huge difference to people driving by on Waterloo Road.
Not did I pick up half a chair, but I found a box of wire. It looked like it could be useful to someone, but if they want it, they'll have to dig it out of the dumpster at Speedway.
If it was important, it shouldn't have been thrown along Russ's driveway.
I thought it was a trash bag, but it just kept coming and coming. It was at least 20 feet long.
I wonder what it was. I found three of them just like this.
I was cleaning around the sewer drain, and I saw this thing. At first, I thought it was a dead animal, but I've never seen animal with orange legs before.
It was some kind of Halloween decoration! A big spider!
How appropriate for a big spider to be tangled in the sewer drain!
I found a ball of string, and I didn't want to stand at the entrance ramp winding it up, so I went to my trash cart where I was safe.
And it just kept coming and coming and coming. I'm guessing about a mile of string. How crazy is that?
I was out four hours and getting really tired, but when I looked across the street at the area that I just cleaned, I was energized again!
I picked up 292 pieces of trash in that area, 806 pieces of trash from the Sheetz to the entrance ramp.
I picked up 386 pieces of trash here.
Yesterday, I saw my friend, Tom, picking up trash north of this area. He had his bucket and trash grabber. I felt a little bit guilty that he was working so hard, and I was not, but I made up for it today.
Today was a really good trash day!
Good job today, Debbie! Joyce
