SO MUCH CRAZY STUFF ON WILBETH ROAD YESTERDAY!

Yesterday, I cleaned five areas that really needed cleaned up.  Yes, it was Christmas Day, but it's actually a great time to pick up trash.  All the stores are closed and there's very little traffic.

I felt weird at first, but then I forgot about it.  Horns were blowing, so I know people appreciated what I was doing.

I started at Waterloo & Main.  It looks so nice now.  Then I went to Main & Wilbeth.  Again, the Family Dollar was closed, so I could clean the whole corner pretty fast.

After that, I cleaned beside the fence around the Softball field and all the way to the Towpath.  That's where I started finding crazy car parts.  Are there accidents on Wilbeth Road every day?

I found tail lights, bumper parts, heavy metal things, and lots of glass.  I also found gloves.

Typically, I find a glove here and there, but rarely do I find a pair close together.  How strange is that?  Who loses their gloves?

I found a paint brush beside broken glass.  That was strange.
I wasn't sure what this was.  I think it was fiberglas, not a dead animal of some kind.
And this looked like a pretty important part.  Maybe a fluid holder.  How does one lose that?
I think this is a gas can, maybe.  I've never seen a white gas can before.  Seemed pretty flimsy.

It's very hard to pick up big items when my bag is almost full.  Luckily, it fit in my recycle bin.

I swept up a dozen piles of broken glass.  People walk on this sidewalk to the towpath, and bikes are headed there as well, mostly in the bike lane, where all the car parts are.

I feel really good when I sweep up these things before someone gets hurt.

I was about a half mile west from Main Street on Wilbeth Road when I realized it was getting dark, and my trash bag was stuffed.  I also had big pieces of cardboard and a bumper, something that looked like part of a shot gun, and a big metal pipe.

Dragging all that back to my car was probably the hardest thing I've ever done.  I kept repeating my number, 2,357, to take my mind off how much my knee hurt, but I made it, and everything fit in my new car.

I was feeling sad that I was alone on Christmas Day, but picking up trash really helped me feel better.  Picking up trash is such a great hobby.  Transforming littered areas into parks is so powerful, and anybody can do it..
