Akron Woman Picks Up Trash in Tennessee!

I'm back!  My last post was October 25, 2025, so it's been a while.  I packed up and moved to Tennessee!  While Akron is blanketed with snow, I'm able to get out and pick up trash here.

Today was my first day out, and what a great reception I received! Several people stopped their cars to thank me.  And neighbors came out of their houses to say hello.

I picked up 1,098 pieces of trash, so it doesn't matter where you go, there's always going to be trash to pick up.  There's no better way to feel good about where you live than to pick up trash.

This big muddy dog came to check out what I was doing. I'm definitely not used to animals running loose.

This Husky really wanted to say hello, but he was behind a fence.

Picking up trash where there are no sidewalks is more challenging, but it can be done safely.

A rooster walked across the road to say hello!  Never saw that in Akron!
There wasn't a lot of trash, but there were pockets where people throw beer bottles.  I managed to fill my bag twice.  I stopped at the company where my son works to see if I could empty my bag, and they told me where to go.  Thank goodness!  They don't recycle here, so my bag filled up fast.

I stopped by the Mayor's office on Monday to see what I can do to help the City of Dayton with a volunteer program.  He's supposed to call me back.  That could be very exciting!

I can't tell you how good it felt to get back out there and make Dayton beautiful!

Adventure awaits!
