RECYCLING ALUMINUM CANS!

This is going to be one of my favorite posts!

I pick up trash, and when I find an aluminum can, I squish it with my foot, and put it in my blue recycle bin in the front of my trash cart.  Can I tell you how much I HATE DOING THIS?

Okay, I will tell you.  I HATE RECYCLING CANS!  They always have a little bit of pop or beer in them.  When I squish the can with my foot, it squirts out all over me.  My car and my clothes smell like I work in a brewery.  And bees love me!

Then I take them home, pour them into a great big bag, and save them in my garage.  When I have six of these huge bags full, I can recycle them.

I load them into my car, drive to the recycling place, and wait in a long line.  When it's my turn, I wait while they rip open the bags and pour the cans into a huge bin.

After that, I have to drive to the Cashier's Office, and get a receipt.  Then I go back outside, scan the receipt, and the money comes out!  (That part, I like a lot!)

I took in six bags today, 120 pounds of cans, which is about 3,840 cans!  (It takes about 32 cans to weigh one pound.)

$65.45 came out of the machine, and that's enough money to buy more trash bags!

It's fun to make a little money, but mostly, I know I'm doing a good thing to recycle.  (My son would be disappointed in me if I didn't recycle.)
