THE ORRVILLE ROTARY MEETING WAS AMAZING!

I was invited to speak at the Orrville Rotary Club Meeting.  I was very nervous until I talked to my boss, and he told me it's normal to be nervous, but once I started telling my story, it would go away.  And it did!

Everybody was very nice to me, and at the end, they asked questions.  I loved it!

I hope some of these people are inspired to pick up trash because of my story.

We had a yummy Chinese lunch . . . and look at my fortune!  It's so me!

I am thinking positively, and I know my dream of making a difference will take flight.
The weatherman said it was going to rain and rain and rain.  I thought about taking a night off, but I didn't want to miss a day, so I went out.

I was only out two hours, but I picked up 2,322 pieces. This mess took a while to clean.

Can you imagine what this would have looked like if the landscaping crew had mowed over all this garbage?  It would have looked worse than it did!

Mowing over trash is such a bad idea..

Now it's all clean, and it started raining again, so I headed for my car.

As I walked by the dumpster, I saw a young couple struggling to put an EXTREMELY HEAVY flat screen TV inside the dumpster.  They couldn't do it.

I'm pretty sure had they not seen me picking up trash, they would have left it beside the dumpster.  And it might have gotten knocked over.  And glass would have been all over the parking lot again.  And I just cleaned up the entire parking lot, so I give them credit.  They were really trying.

I asked if I could help, and together, we picked it up, swung it back as far as we could and voila!  Into the dumpster it went!

I left there, and I could see my car!   Out of nowhere, a woman appeared on the sidewalk.  She said, "Trash blows in my yard.  I will pay you to pick it up!"  I thought it must be an awful mess if she was willing to pay me to pick it up.

This is the mess that was bothering her.  Can you believe that? (She should follow me around for about an hour, and I would show her a mess!  This was nothing.)

I told her I'd be happy to clean it up, and I didn't want paid.  It was raining harder, and I was tired, but I knew it wouldn't take very long.

I got it all cleaned up.  There was more than I thought.  And it wasn't trash that had blown into her yard.  It was trash from her kids, but who cares.  She will be very pleased when she steps outside tomorrow.  And maybe she'll keep it clean now.

Today was an absolutely amazing day!

Tomorrow is April 3, Debbie Miller Day!  I still can't believe I have a day!  It's also hard to believe it's been a whole year since the Mayor of Akron gave me the Proclamation.

This year has been an absolutely amazing year!
