SO MUCH NICER IN THE COOLER WEATHER!

I went out for two hours tonight, and it was so much better.  Not so hot.

I started at the exit ramp from Route 8 to Wilbeth Road.  My friend, Roger, was leaning forward.  I thought he was dead.  Thank goodness, he was just sleeping.

He had two trash bags full of trash, and he was surrounded by water bottles, fast food wrappers, cigarette packs.

People want to help, so they give him food and water.  They think that's what he wants.  He wants cash.

Almost all the food and water given to him is wasted.  Such a shame.  There has to be a better way to live.

After that, I went to Barbara Street.  THERE WAS SO MUCH TRASH!  I guess every two weeks isn't enough.

How could there be so much trash in one place?

It makes a world of difference to clean it up.  I only had 22 minutes left in my two hours when I started on these two areas.  It took 22 minutes to clean them both . . . and make a friend!

I met a woman, named Louise, right around the corner from this area.  She said she would love to help pick up trash on Barbara if she had a trash grabber.  I said, "Wait right there."  And I got one out of my car.  I always have spare trash grabbers in case mine breaks.  She was a lovely woman.  And she said she'd tell all her neighbors to pick up trash too.

She stopped for a second and said, "Hey, you're that woman on TV?"  That was pretty cool.

This area was worse than the other area, and I didn't get done.  I'll have to go back tomorrow.

Yesterday, I picked up 1,362 pieces in the rain, in three hours, in an area that didn't have a lot of trash.  I said, "I only picked up 1,362 pieces tonight."  Remember?

One of my friends said, "Wow, only 1,362 pieces?  That's a lot of trash, Debbie!"

Yes, it is a lot of trash, but tonight, I picked up 2,071 pieces in just two hours.  Big difference.

I can pick up a lot of trash if there's a lot to pick up, and there was a lot to pick up tonight.

It looks so nice now.  I wish the people in this neighborhood would help me.  It's not hard.  I provide trash grabbers, buckets and gloves.  And now t-shirts.

Wouldn't you rather raise your children in a safe area like this?

When I was picking up the trash around the playground, a little girl asked me what I was doing.  Her mother said, "She's making our playground safe for us."  I just smiled at her.  She gets it.

I love before and after pictures.  I was tired tonight and wasn't sure I wanted to pick up trash after cleaning the exit ramp, but WOW!

These pictures make me so happy.
