CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MUCH I LOVE FIREWORKS DEBRIS!
I didn't pick up any trash yesterday. I spent the whole day (and $800) with my son, Jason. We bought dog food at Tractor Supply, 4 pairs of new shoes at DSW, 2 pizzas at Donatoes, D & D books at Barnes & Noble, and ice cream at Cold Stone. It was an amazing 4th of July!
Since I didn't get to sleep last night until 3 am, I got out late, and it was SO HOT! I wanted to go back to where I left off Wednesday, but I saw this as I was driving east on Wilbeth Road. All these TNT canisters standing there waiting for me! Can you believe that? Just standing there.
These canisters are heavy. It's bad enough they keep me up half the night shooting off bombs, but couldn't they at least take their trash with them?
It sure seems like the people who set these off don't care about anyone but themselves, but do they have to leave all their garbage in the middle of the road?
I noticed the northbound exit ramp from Route 8 to Wilbeth Road was nasty looking, and my friend, Roger, was not there again. I hope he didn't die. He looked really bad the last couple of times I saw him. One of my neighbors told me she called 911, because he was slumped forward.
I keep thinking about the last time I saw him. It was just a couple of days ago. He said, "Is there anything I can do for you, Debbie?"
I can't stop thinking about that. Why would he ask me if there was anything he could do for me? He's the one sitting at the exit ramp day after day begging for money.
I hope he comes back. I like him a lot. And when he does, his area will look nice.
I hope he's okay. There's no way to know. I don't even know his last name.
Did I mention that this ramp is closed?
Then why is there so much trash when nobody is walking or driving by? That's a mystery to me.
I crossed Wilbeth Road and cleaned the southbound exit ramp, and this ramp just reopened. It's brand new.
Yes, lots of trash already.
After that, I crossed the bridge again and worked on the northbound entrance ramp from Wilbeth Road to Route 8.
I picked up what I could squeeze in my bag. It was stuffed, and my heavy duty trash can broke! I guess it had all it could stand. I do abuse my trash can every day, but especially today. Heavy fireworks, broken glass, car parts.
It was hot, but I'd say it was a great day. The areas I cleaned are where THOUSANDS of cars drive by every day. Maybe more. I clean a lot of remote areas in neighborhoods where nobody sees what I've done. But a lot of people will see how nice Wilbeth Road looks this holiday weekend.
It’s Jaimi- people like the man you mentioned see and value your hard work every day!!!
ReplyDeleteYou were busy! Thanks for cleaning all that debris.
ReplyDeleteOh Debbie what a day for you! Just amazing you cleaned up so much in this heat! I’m sorry people won’t throw away their own trash! You are amazing! Debby
ReplyDeleteThank you again for helping our city. I also have noticed that Roger has been missing. He was a sweet man-even offered me some of his drinks. We had a chat about our ages. I don’t know his last name but his bday is 1-20-1943.
