IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE OUT PICKING UP TRASH AGAIN!

Oh, it felt good to go out and pick up trash again.  I wore myself out picking up trash on the exit and entrance ramps last weekend in that heat.  So I didn't go out Monday night, and rain kept me in Tuesday and Wednesday.

I knew the intersection at Main & Wilbeth was a mess, but boy what a mess!  I can only imagine what my neighborhood would look like if I stopped picking up trash.

In less than a week, there was 1,133 pieces of trash at this intersection, including this!  Liquor bottles and needles?  So gross!

And I found another pair of pants  These look like someone is still in them!
I found more fireworks debris.  Must have been one heck of a party here!
After I finished that, I went to another area that is always a mess, Wilbeth & Arlington, and I picked up 1,291 pieces.

After I cleaned both corners where the Circle K and the pizza place are, I started west on Wilbeth.  I picked up all the trash on the sidewalk, and there was a lot of trash inside this fence where guys were working on cars.  I went inside the fence and asked if I could pick up the trash on the inside of the fence.  They all just stood there.  I thought maybe they didn't speak English.  Then one said, "Why?"

That made me laugh.

My timer went off, so I needed to head back to my car, and I saw this awful mess of broken glass on the road.  It took me a long time to sweep up this glass, because I had to wait until no cars were coming, obviously.

I don't think this glass was from liquor bottles.   I think it was a smashed headlight, but who knows.  It's the most glass I've picked up in one spot.

It looks nice now.  Can you imagine riding your bike through that?

I'm sure if I would have reported it to the City of Akron, their little street sweeper vehicle would have come and cleaned it up, but I thought I'd try.  And I was able to clean it all up.

I feel like all my areas are a mess after the 4th of July holiday weekend, but I'll get them cleaned up again.

I love driving around my neighborhood, noticing how nice it looks.
