NO CHANNEL 5 INTERVIEW TODAY
I was thrilled when Maya Lockett from Channel 5 News texted me and asked if she could interview me again. I said yes, and she asked if I was available on Sunday. I told her I was. I was a little surprised she wanted to see me before I reached my one-million-piece goal, but I've been very busy. Great things happen every day on my mission to clean up my neighborhood.
I didn't hear from her all day. I was disappointed, but I know she must have a good reason. I think she is a good person.
So instead of picking up trash, I took the dogs to Medina to the dog park. They had a wonderful time. On the drive home, I took the exit ramp from I-76 to Main Street, and I realized that Tom and I had not finished this area. So I went back and finished it.
I started under the bridge, and it was beyond disgusting! I picked up over 500 pieces of icky stuff around these orange barrels.
Here's the thing I realized today about picking up trash . . . it makes an area look BRAND NEW!
What a wonderful difference!
Other than being super hot and lugging heavy bags around, it was pretty easy. There was plenty of room to get out of the way of cars getting on the freeway.
Of course, I don't want to get hit, but also, I don't want to frighten anyone who is focused on driving around this curve.
I found a perfect hub cap today. I put it out front just in case the person who lost it is driving by and says, "Hey! There's my hub cap!"
I find a lot of hub caps, but they are usually smashed. This one is in perfect condition.
So I didn't get to talk to Maya today, but I had a great day anyway.
You aren't in it for the fame anyway. Making a difference is its own reward!
