NOTHING MUCH HAPPENED TONIGHT . . .

 

Nothing much happened tonight.  

I started at the corner of Wilbeth & Arlington, because I noticed trash there when I drove by yesterday.  Anytime an area "looks" trashy, there's usually a lot of trash.

I picked up 350 pieces of trash right here!  I knew it was bad, but not that bad.

While I was doing that, a very nice man stopped by to chat.  He said he has a friend who owns a hotel in Miami, and he keeps the parking lot clean!  I told him, "Maybe some day, Akron will look like that." 

Then I headed past the pizza shop, past the chicken place, and cleaned all around the convenience store.  The owner came outside and thanked me for keeping his parking lot clean.  He's never done that before.

After that, a little boy on a bicycle asked me if he could help.  I need to have something to give kids when they ask if they can help.  Maybe I'll have some stickers printed up I can pass out.  I think they'd love that!

I crossed the street to finish the sidewalk by the chicken place, and a man stopped in his landscaping pickup truck and asked me if the restaurant was open.  I told him I didn't work there, but I thought it was open.  

We talked about picking up trash in Firestone Park.  He was very nice.

So I picked up 1,665 pieces of trash tonight, including three piles of broken glass on the road.  

I cleaned up the mess around a trash can that had blown over.  Ick!  Baby diapers!

When I got back to my car, I walked over to take a picture of the area I cleaned when I first arrived.  What a difference!  It changes the whole feel of this area.

So I'm at 660,260 pieces, only 339,740 more pieces to go to reach my one-million-piece goal!

Did I say nothing much happened tonight?  

I didn't find any knives or witness any accidents, but I met some very nice people, and I think it was a very good night!
