KEEP COLUMBUS BEAUTIFUL IS ALREADY VERY BUSY!

On Saturday, I drove to Columbus to help my son buy a new car.  I was completely focused on that when I heard a commercial on 92.3 radio about not trashing cigarette butts.  Of course it grabbed my attention, and at the end of it, I heard "Keep Columbus Beautiful!"

A radio commercial?  Seriously?  How wonderful!  I don't think I've ever heard a commercial about not littering on TV or on the radio.

I looked at their website when I got home, and I saw this "Kick Butt Columbus" save-the-date image.  They already have cleanups planned!

It says "rain or shine."  What about a foot of snow?  How do you pick up trash when you can't see it?

I am so anxious to get back out there.   My trash cart is frozen in my driveway.  But I can't see the ground.  I know there's trash under the snow, and I know I'll get it all picked up when the snow melts.  I need patience.

My son lives in Dublin.  It's a lovely city northwest of Columbus, right on the 270 outerbelt.  The last time I visited, I was appalled at the amount of trash I saw.  But this time, it was all gone!  All picked up, even in this nasty weather.

Akron needs to figure out why Columbus is so clean.  Why can't we do what they're doing?  I want that so much, and I will do anything to make that happen.

  1. Can you contact Columbus and see how they organize?

  2. It is good to see such positive litter clean up in other cities. That means there are more people like you who care and do something about it!

  3. There used to be commercials. Remember the man with a tear on his cheek looking at the litter.
