I "SAW" SO MUCH TRASH AT THE EXIT RAMP IN WADSWORTH!
Today was an amazing day! As I got off the I-76 freeway, I "saw" so much trash around the exit ramp. I told myself, "I'm going back there after work to clean that up." So I did.
I found a saw blade on the road! Can you believe that? Never found one of those before. If the wind had caught it just right, it could have done a lot of damage. I was happy to dispose of that properly.
Here's what I saw when I stopped at the light this morning. For Akron, it's not much, but for Wadsworth, a city that is very, very clean, it was a lot of trash.
There are lots of people in Wadsworth out picking up trash, but apparently, there's nobody in this very heavily traveled area.
Now, when I'm stopped at the light, I won't be disgusted. There are four ramps that need cleaned. I only had enough daylight to clean one, the westbound exit ramp, so I'll have to go back.
I'm guessing it will take a day to clean each ramp.
The worst part was the cigarette butts that people throw out of their cars while they're waiting for the light.Cigarette butts take years to biodegrade, so they need picked up.
It's a little thing, cigarette butt litter, but it makes a big difference when they're picked up.I didn't get them all, but I made a nice dent. It looks so much better.
I left three big bags of trash, 1,354 pieces, on the corner of the exit ramp. I'll ask Mayor Laubaugh if she'll send someone out to pick them up. I hope people driving by, especially my customers in Wadsworth, see how much trash there was, and how easy it was for me to pick up.Today, someone from Rittman asked me if I'd come help her clean up her neighborhood, and I told her I'd be happy to help.
Nobody expects me to do it all, they just need a little help getting started.
A dozen people rolled their windows down today and thanked me for cleaning this area. It's incredible how many people care about our planet.
I knew you would doit!!
