HOW DO THESE AREAS GET TRASHED UP LIKE THIS?
I drove down Arlington, headed for an area I know needs cleaned up. I parked my car and started walking that way. I saw this mirror glass. Wow! Never saw mirror glass before. Somebody is going to have a whole lot of bad luck!
The pieces were too small to pick up with my trash grabber, so I had to get out my broom and dustpan.
Imagine walking this way with your dog? That would be very bad.
How do these areas get trashed up like this? Is it because there's a Popeye's Chicken place down the street? Do people think this area is the city dump? How disrespectful is it to throw your pop cans and beer bottles on the grass, right there in the open?
While I was picking up this trash, I heard a hot rod come into the parking lot. It was so loud that the vibrations shook my whole body. The man got out and went into his apartment. I didn't even look up. Later, a nice-looking young man walked toward me and said, "Would you like some help?" I said, "No, I got this, but thank you so much!"
He didn't argue. In fact, he left quickly, somewhat relieved, I'm guessing, and he started up that loud car and drove off! Wow!
It looks so good now. When the landscaping crew mows, all this trash won't be shredded and chopped. It's hard enough to pick it up when the pieces are whole!Right past that spot was another spot . . . worse than the other one!I just don't understand how it can be so evenly placed. Do people say, "Wow, there's a clean spot. Here's my water bottle!"
Maybe. Who knows. I only know I'll reach my one million piece goal in no time here. I picked up 2,538 pieces today, and I still had five minutes left on my timer. My trash bag was full, for the fourth time, and I was tired.
Time to go home and play with the dogs.
I turned the corner, and started cleaning down the next sidewalk, and a woman was coming out of her apartment. I moved over to let her pass, and I said "Hello." She gave me a face. Not quite sure what she was thinking. When she got to the corner, she saw what had done, and she turned around and walked back to me and said, "God bless you, ma'am!"She didn't have to do that, but it sure made me feel good. People do notice. I just wish people would pick up the trash before it gets like this. It would be so easy to do that.
Better yet, throw it in the dumpster! It's right there!
That was a lot of trash today! Omgoodness! Joyce
