MY #1 REASON FOR PICKING UP TRASH?

I wasn't planning on picking up trash tonight.  My son was supposed to visit, but he didn't come, so out I went.

My #1 reason for picking up trash is to keep my neighborhood safer.  My dog cut his nose on a broken wine bottle on the sidewalk two years ago, and I have found a lot of scary things, but never anything as scary as this!

I found it at the corner of Main & Wilbeth, stuck in the ground like a spear.  Oh my goodness!  This thing could do a lot of damage to a body.

Then I found this wire cutter on Main Street.  Seriously?
I found another very tall liquor bottle.  Who needs that much alcohol?  Wow.
And I don't know what was going on here.  It looks like someone swiped this garment and couldn't get the anti-theft device off.  Crazy!
I crossed Main Street and headed north.  Something made me want to check the next block, so I left my trash cart there and walked south.

I found a bunch of broken glass from a liquor bottle and one of these street lamps.  My guess is somebody threw the bottle at the lamp and broke it.  The City replaced it, but didn't pick up any of the broken glass.

I had a feeling.  Isn't that strange?

I cleaned up all the broken glass.

Any idea what this thing is?  It's very pretty, but I don't know what it is.
Apparently people think behind walls is where trash is supposed to be deposited.  So sad.
I've been picking up trash long enough to spot liquor bottles wherever they may be hiding.
Got it before it was broken.
I was almost back to my car and I saw this cooler in the weeds.  I almost left it there, but coolers don't belong in the weeds.  It went into the dumpster.  If whoever left it there wants it, they can find it in the dumpster.

I picked up 1,237 pieces tonight, so I'm at 910,485.  Only 89,515 pieces to go!

  1. A little over 85,000 pieces of trash seems like a lot. But not for you! If anyone can do it, it’s you! Joyce
