PLEASE LET IT RAIN ON SATURDAY!

I never thought I'd hope for rain.  I am so sick of intense trash!  Never thought I'd say that either, but I've seen so much trash the last two weeks.  I think I want to pick up "normal" trash for a while.

Yesterday, I worked on the entrance ramp from Main Street to I-76, and as I was leaving, I saw these three "islands" of trash right at the intersection of Thornton & Main.

So gross!

I got the first one cleaned up, and I picked up over 1,000 pieces.  I knew it was bad, but I didn't realize it was that bad.
The second island wasn't nearly as big, and I picked up about 400 pieces, so not nearly as trashy either.
Got that all cleaned up, and it started to rain, but not enough to quit.
I really wanted to finish all three.
And I did.  What a difference it made!  There's still trash to pick up in the field beside this area, and all along the back.  I'd say about a week of work, but at least I got this done.

There was only one scary moment.  A homeless couple (I'm guessing they were homeless,) got in a big fight, and the guy said something to me. I continued to count, and they went on by.  I don't know what he said, but that's not something I wanted involved in.

Most likely, he was asking me for money.  I don't have any money on me when I pick up trash.  On purpose.

I saw this manhole cover off to the side, right by the sidewalk.  So glad I was paying attention.  I would have hated to step in that!

I will report it to the city.  I'm sure it's not supposed to be like that.

I picked up 1,851 pieces of trash tonight, along with the rubber off a tire, and a bumper.

I parked at McDonald's, and as I drove past, I was very pleased.  It looks so much better.
