SO MUCH BROKEN GLASS WHERE CHILDREN PLAY
I took two days off, because my hip was hurting. I was feeling 100% when I went out tonight. First stop, accident debris.
This is where the car ran the stop sign at Sylvan & Barbara and ran into a pickup track and then landed in a fence. I pulled all the car parts out of the grass and off of the fence. Strange that absolutely nobody else would think to do this.
There were only 143 pieces, but still, that's a lot to leave on the sidewalk.
(I hope my car is okay when I get back to it.)
She helped me pick up trash for a little while, and then her older brother and younger sister joined us. The boy had slippers on. The two girls were barefooted. Broken glass all over the sidewalk. Good grief! I was a nervous wreck watching them run around.
I told them I would be back tomorrow night and I'll bring buckets and trash grabbers they can keep. I don't have gloves small enough, but they should be wearing gloves.
All three were so sweet. The smallest one kept calling me "Grandma." I told her she could call me anything she wanted.
I picked up 1,606 pieces of trash tonight, and my hip hurts again.
This is exactly why I need help. What I'm doing is so good. I drive around Firestone Park and there's no trash! Unbelievable. The areas I cleaned last week are still clean. It really makes a difference, but nobody can pick up a 920,000 pieces of trash and not suffer from it.
I'm going to cut back to one hour and see if that helps. I would hate to stop picking up trash. I truly love it.
Take a break from picking up trash for awhile. You hip needs to heal and it is going to take a little more time than a couple days. Take care of yourself my friend! Joyce
