THERE'S NO END TO THE KINDS OF MESSES I FIND
I wanted an easy night, so I headed to the football field to clean up the beer cans. I noticed a dozen thrown around earlier today. Then I started walking east on Wilbeth.
What the heck is this? Some kind of pipe laying on a big rock. Why? I don't know, but I'm sure the person who put it there knows.
I turned the corner at Virginia, and ick! The trash was melting into mud.I never saw mud like this on the road before. Why?
I continued south on Virginia, and I saw these bags of trash just tossed on the side of the road. Again why?Otherwise, this area was amazingly clean.
Then I saw the reason for the mud. I'm guessing this whole street was flooded when we got all that rain.I went back to Wilbeth and continued walking east. I thought this was going to be a pretty easy night, and then I saw this awful mess . . .
No idea what this was. It looked like a car was driving on the grass and got stuck, and somebody put all their clothes and trash in the ruts! What a stinky mess!I got it all cleaned up, so now it will dry out.
I turned to leave, and there was another one! Good grief! This is one of those times when I wanted to say, "Know what? Not my problem!"
But of course I didn't. I got all that cleaned up too.I walked for three hours and picked up 1,736 pieces of trash.
When I reach my one-million-piece goal, I'm going to slow down. Maybe I'll go out every other day for one hour.
That won't go very far in Akron with all the trash, but it should be enough if thousands of people join in. And I think they will.
Some kind of mess!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it cool to have all these efforts documented with photos? You could look back on this someday and be very proud.
