A LITTLE BIT FUNNY, A LOT SAD . . .

The weather report said rain in 30 minutes, but I had to take a chance.  I didn't want to pick up trash again in the rain.  It's so hard, but I also didn't want to miss a day.

Wilbeth Road looked pretty good driving by, but there's always trash when you walk the sidewalk.  I had to search for it, but I sure found it.

This trash was layered.  That means it's been there for years.  Very hard to pick up, because you get one piece, and there's another one under it.

I got this spot cleaned up, but there's more.  However, it's going to have to wait for next time.
My trash bag was stuffed from this one area!
And I had to pick up a lot of it by hand.  My trash grabber couldn't grip slippery stuff that was stuck in the mud and under branches.
I know where all best dumpsters are, and I try to empty my bag as often as I can so it doesn't get too heavy.

Look at all the trash around this dumpster!

It took me five minutes to pick it all up.  Doesn't anybody else care?

I picked up 2,485 pieces of trash today and it didn't rain.  Almost three hours on Wilbeth Road.  The landscaping crew is doing a wonderful job mowing the grass, but oh how I wish they would pick up the trash first.  They shred it and what a mess it is for me to pick up.

Do they think shredding a styrofoam cup is going to solve the trash problem?  Instead of a cup, there's 10 styrofoam pieces.  It looks like snow! And it won't ever go away.

If they get paid by the hour, wouldn't they want to spend a little time picking up bottles and cups before they mow?

I got back to where I started, and I couldn't believe my eyes.  This parking lot was clean when I left it.  Somebody got out of their van, and just dumped their Burger King garbage by their car door!

A woman was walking out of her apartment to get into her car, and she said, "Pigs!  That's just rude!  Why would anybody do that?"  I told her, "Maybe they knew I would pick it up."  She said, "That's just rude!"

I pretty much guarantee had I not picked it up, she wouldn't have either.

It's a little bit funny that with a dumpster right there, they would prefer to litter, but it's also very sad.  Who thinks this is okay?  Who says, "I could throw my trash away, but I think I'll just dump it here in this very clean parking lot.  I'll show the world I can do whatever I want!"

That's a sad attitude.

  1. I can’t imagine eating my food and then leaving the trash outside my car door! Very lazy people. Good day picking up trash. You are almost to your goal. 😊 Joyce
