ALMOST 5,000 PIECES IN TWO DAYS!

I didn't post to my blog last night.  I was tired and not much happened.  But it was a good night.  I picked up 1,569 pieces of trash and finished Wilbeth Road from Main Street to Arlington.  That's a messy road, but also my favorite.  I love streets that really look nice when they're clean.

I picked up trash for two hours and was a block away from my car when I saw this sorry mess.  Somebody threw all their electronics in this bush.  Who does something like that?

I almost walked away and said, "Not my problem," but you know I can't do that.  I knew there was a flat screen TV in there.  I told myself, "If I can lift it, I'll get it to the dumpster."

And I did lift it, and I got everything in my trash bag.  Pulling it to the dumpster was another story.  It wasn't that far, only about a block, but it seemed miles away as I creeped along.
This morning, I got up early and headed over to the underpass on Archwood.  It's always a mess.

It wasn't that bad, but there's so much garbage on the other side of the chain link fence.  It doesn't really matter how nice the bridge looks, you can see through the fence, and it looks trashy.

This is what you see when you look through the chain link fence.  Homeless people must live over there at night.
When I got to the end of the bridge, I saw the fence had been cut and folded back.  So I could get over there if I wanted to?

I had to think really hard about it.  Did I want to clean up a mess that hasn't been cleaned for years?

Of course I did!

There was all kinds of stuff here.  I picked up a thousand pieces of trash behind the fence, but I was uneasy.  It felt creepy to me, like I was in somebody's house.

I got it all done though.
And then I headed for the entrance ramp from Archwood to Route 8.  I haven't been here for a long time.  I don't think I cleaned it last summer.  I was too busy in Firestone Park.

The reason I didn't clean it last summer was because it didn't look bad.  BUT IT WAS BAD.  I picked up 2,400 pieces of trash here!

And I had to walk all the way back to my car, parked on the other side of the underpass, to get more trash bags.

I never would have guessed I'd fill three 42 gallon bags.

Now it's clean.  When the city mows, it will look really good.
There were dozens of piles of broken glass.  Remember, glass doesn't ever go away.  That's why there was so much.
And wait until you see this, near the beginning of the entrance ramp, somebody lost their under pants!  Really?  Who loses their underwear as they're getting on the freeway?  That's crazy!

I picked up 3,407 pieces of trash today, 1,569 pieces of trash  last night, and I'm over 950,000!

It should be pretty easy from here.  I'm in the home stretch!
