I HAD AN ANNOYING MOMENT TONIGHT . . .
I decided to continue where I left off yesterday at the exit ramp from I-76 West to Arlington. I got that all cleaned up, and I wanted to work on the entrance ramp tonight.
I had to walk through this underpass to get to the other ramp, and when I was right in the middle, a little white car laid on the horn. IT WAS SO LOUD! I thought my ears were going to explode!
I tried to convince myself it was someone thanking me for cleaning this area, but when I looked at the driver, I saw a young girl laughing. I guess she thought it was really funny to not only scare the crap out of me, but hurt my head.
I got that all cleaned up.
While I was cleaning that, I saw lots of trash behind the chain link fence. The fence only went partway around, so I was able to get to that area.
Then I continued walking north on Arlington to see if there were any messes to clean up. I have to admit, I've lived in Akron for 10 years, and I've never driven on this road before.
I found so many disgusting messes. (No pictures! Too gross!)
I lifted a pizza box and there were dirty diapers under it. They'd been there for a very long time. That was gross. I cleaned that up.
I lifted a white t-shirt, and there was human poop under it. I did not clean that up. I left it right where it was. That's beyond my job description.
I saw this vacant area, and it was covered with trash. I didn't take a before picture, because I didn't think I'd clean it. There was too much and I was tired. But I got it all cleaned up, and I stood there and smiled for a few minutes. What a transformation! After that, I cleaned all the trash out of vines growing up a steep hill. I found books, clothing, coffee cups from Starbucks.
Sometimes I forget to take pictures, but mostly, I don't take pictures, because I don't think I can do it. But I always do it.
I picked up 2,364 pieces of trash tonight in three hours, and I walked two miles.
It was a good night, and I think I'll go back here tomorrow night and continue where I left off. Arlington is a main road in Akron, running north and south. The whole thing needs cleaned.
I’m glad you draw the line at not cleaning up human poop! Yucky! The after pictures show another productive evening for you.
