I LOVE MAIN STREET BARBERTON SO MUCH!

Tomorrow morning is the monthly cleanup at Main Street Barberton.  I love this organization. Melanie is as passionate about picking up trash as I am.  She's doing an outstanding job.

I can't join in tomorrow, because my son and his girlfriend are coming to visit, so I went over tonight to clean Wooster Road.

When I started picking up trash, the very first piece was this thing, on the sidewalk.  Anybody know what it is?  It looks like the bottom of a shoe, but HUGE!  Who has a foot that big?

When I started walking down the sidewalk on Wooster Road, I felt like the cars were whizzing by really close to me.

Look at this!  The cars were running over my shadow's head!    Now that's close!

Driving by, I saw very little trash.  A cup here, a napkin there from the fast food restaurants, but very, very clean.  I crossed the road and started working toward the shopping center.

A black grocery bag, all puffed up from the wind, came tumbling toward me.  It looked so life like, that I grabbed my phone to take a picture.

Then it took off south, rolling on the side of the road, and I ran after it.  I must have looked like an idiot chasing a plastic bag, so I stopped.  It got snagged on something, and I grabbed it.

I thought it was pretty funny, until it ran away from me!

Beside the shopping center parking lot, there was an area that has been missed.  There were all kinds of tiny pieces of stuff here.
I got that all cleaned up, and it looks so much better.
I found this car part in the mulch.  I'm guessing somebody put it there knowing I would be by to pick it up.

Thank you!

Right on the sidewalk, I found these electronics cords.  Can you imagine getting tangled up in all that?
And I noticed that Barberton has placed more trash cans around.  I love this.

I started picking up the little pieces of trash and cigarette butts along the sidewalk, and I banged my head right into this stop sign!  This time, it was my head, not my shadow's head.

I've never seen a stop sign that short.  I guess I need to look up more often.

I crossed the road and cleaned all around the fast food restaurants, and then I saw this big bush.  I could see stuff inside it.

I pulled the branches away a little, and look at all these cups nestled down in there!  Somebody is making a game out of our picking up trash.

I got down on my hands and knees, and I got everything out.

I was almost back to my car, and I looked down a side street, and I could see broken glass glistening in the sunshine.  I walked all the way down there and cleaned it up.  What a shame that somebody did that.  These bricks are so pretty.

I picked up 1,606 pieces of trash in an area that looked super clean.

That's exactly why I love Main Street Barberton.  They organize a monthly cleanup even though the sidewalks and streets don't look trashy.  By doing this, Barberton will stay beautiful for all the festivities this summer, and they have a lot going on.

I'm so proud to be part of this organization.

  1. You need a vacuum for the little plastic pieces and glass! Can you imagine? If not didn’t get anything but the trash.
