I SAVED ANOTHER FRIEND!!!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!

And driving home, I noticed trash that needed picked up at Main & Wilbeth, so I headed out to clean up that busy intersection.

There was stuffing everywhere!  All along the sidewalk.  On all four corners, and then I found the culprit!

This little guy must have been run over a couple of times.  The whole back was ripped open and there were tire tracks on his head.

I threw it in my bucket, and then I thought about the pink hippo I saved last summer.  I took him out of the bucket and put him under the trash bag so I could work on him at home.

This is the spot that looked like it needed cleaned.  If it looks bad from my car, it's usually pretty bad.

While I was picking this up, a nice looking man in a pickup truck yelled out his window:  "THANK YOU!  I LOVE YOU!"

That made me laugh out loud, and I was thinking, "Come a little closer and say that, okay?"

Isn't that funny?

So I got all four corners cleaned up, and then I headed south on Main Street where there's always a bunch of trash under some pine trees.

Look at all this!  Playing cards?  Some goofy looking lottery tickets?  Red Bull?  Must have been a good time!

Have you ever seen those little red, white and blue lottery tickets?   I've never seen them before at a store, but I pick up a lot of them.

At first, I thought they were stamp books, but they're not.  Nobody buys stamp books anymore anyway.

Oh, the liquor bottles in this area! There are two bars in front of the pine trees, and I'm guessing that's where the liquor bottles come from.

Have you ever seen a curvy tequila bottle like this before?  If I was a horder, and had nothing to do, I'd collect these.  Some of them are really pretty before they get smashed.

There was a bunch of them under the pine trees today.  They are always hidden so I have to work really hard to pull them out.  I don't like it, but I'd rather do that than sweep up broken glass.

I crossed the street, and the Dollar Store manager came out and thanked me and asked me if I was at my goal yet.  I loved that she remembered.

Then someone driving in to the Dollar Store stopped and said, "Hey, Debbie!  I wanted to tell you that somebody dumped a bunch of trash at the end of my driveway.  I got out my trash grabber and gloves, and picked it all up.  I told myself, I want to be like Debbie!  You have inspired me!"  I really liked hearing that!

So I got home, threw the koala bear in the washer.  Then I threw him into the dryer, restuffed him and sewed him up, and he's perfect!  I did save another friend!

I picked up 1,539 pieces of trash tonight.  What a wonderful way to end Mother's Day weekend!
