I THOUGHT TONIGHT WAS GOING TO BE UNEVENTFUL

I thought tonight was going to be uneventful.  I went to area beside the Speedway at Waterloo & Main.  It was SO CLEAN!

Well, not really. I picked up over 500 pieces of trash along both sides and in the back of the building.  But I usually pick up thousands of pieces, so 500 is pretty good.

This is what it's all about . . . teamwork.  I can do a lot, but I can't do it all.

After that, I headed east and cleaned that big area where the homeless people hang out.

I found another needle.

Why are there always beer cans around the needles?  I guess they go together.

Then I saw this pickup truck next to the dumpster at this apartment complex.

All the tires were flat, but look in the bed!  Oh my goodness!  Why would people throw their trash in the back of this truck when the dumpster is 20 feet away?

And I found a messy area all along the fence.
The pieces were all big, so it was fast and easy to clean up.

I walked back to my car and I still had 30 minutes left, so I went to an area I just cleaned two weeks ago.

Yes, it was a mess again, but not nearly as bad as it was two weeks ago.  Every area needs cleaned every week.  I can't do that, because I'm cleaning three Akron neighborhoods:  South Akron, East Akron and Firestone Park.  There are hundreds of streets in these neighborhoods.

When my timer went off, I headed back to the dumpster to empty my trash bag that was stuffed.  Lots of glass tonight.  And I found this muffler?  Is that what this is?

And I remembered my physical therapist telling me he knew a woman who was seeing him because she was picking up trash and tried to lift a muffler.  So I was very careful.

I lifted the pipe part and it wasn't that heavy.  I was able to get it into the dumpster.  Can you imagine if the lawn mower had hit that thing?  The part that boggles my mind is if I could lift it, why couldn't the person who discarded it lift it?  Crazy!

I picked up 2,272 pieces tonight, then took the dogs to the school to play ball, then mowed my grass before the big storm tonight.

Every day is so busy.
