THIS WAS A HORRIBLE NIGHT! SO MUCH GROSS STUFF!

I knew it was going to rain, so I hurried to do what I could.  I went to Waterloo, where I saw trash driving by yesterday.

I cleaned the whole parking lot and field at the Dollar Store, and then I saw this horrible mess.  Ick!  I walked away three times, and kept coming back.  Yes, maybe it was more than I should pick up, but the rest of the area was clean.  I had to try.

I found a dead rat!  I almost walked away, but at least it was dead.  I could have found a snake.  I've found snakes in big wet piles like this.  So it can always be worse, right?

I got it all picked up.  Luckily, the dumpster was about 20 feet away, so I didn't have to carry all that icky stuff with me.

I cleaned up the sidewalk on Waterloo, and around the restaurant at the corner.  There was so much trash here!  I cleaned this area about a month ago, so all the trash was new.  Very easy to pick up.

There was a beer bottle under the bush, and I don't know how, but I managed to pour the contents down the front of my pants and onto my shoes!  I think it was somebody's spit from chewing tobacco.  Almost threw up, but then I told myself i could do this.  My washing machine was only about an hour away.

Then I turned around, went over the area I just cleaned again, turned the corner at the next street, cleaned up that sidewalk.

And I was back in the Dollar Store parking lot.

And what a mess this was!  It doesn't look that bad from this picture, but it was cigarette butts and tampons and disposable gloves about three inches thick.

I picked up all the big stuff, and then I had to get out my little broom and dustpan.  There was too much for my trash grabber.  (I would still be there!)

What a difference that made!  Wow!  Worth all the effort, I think.

While I was sweeping that up, somebody came near me and stood there smoking marijuana.  That made me sick to my stomach!  I don't know if he was stoned or thought he was cool.  I only know I can't stand the smell of pot.

It was a horrible night!  Most of the time, picking up trash is fun, This wasn't one of those nights.

I finished up the rest of the parking lot, and looked up at the sky.

Wow!  What a great warning that the rain was almost here!  I loaded up my car and got home without getting wet, although this would have been one of the times I didn't mind getting wet.  My clothes and shoes smelled really bad.

I picked up 2,312 pieces of trash tonight.

Tonight was horrible, but tomorrow will be fun.

  5. I just and will never understand why people want to be filthy like this! You would think if they're gonna litter, they can at least carry a bag with them to put their trash in and THEN put it in a trash can. That city should have a group of people to go around different parts of the city and pick up that trash. Maybe COUNCIL people should arrange a group of individuals in their district to be doing this. Take responsibility for their district and show their citizens that they care about this problem. I would have given up at this stage! You are too good!
