THIS WAS A VERY BIG NIGHT! I FOUND A BULLET!
This was a very big night. I started at Wilbeth & Arlington, in the pizza place parking lot. It didn't look bad driving by, so I haven't been there for a while. I usually clean this corner every week.
Well, it was a mess tonight. Most likely because it was windy. The pizza employees hand over the pizza boxes and plop a stack of napkins on the box. The person walks out the door and the napkins fly all over the place.
There needs to be a better way to do that, maybe hand the napkins to people? Think?
However, baskets must not be his thing, because he missed. And he just walked away! I couldn't believe it. There was a crumpled up paper and a straw wrapper, and he just left it there. I guess he thought I'd pick it up. Seems like he could have handed it to me.
I continued down Arlington, and I found a bullet! I never found a bullet before. I put it in my zippered pouch where I keep nails and screws until I get home.
After I finished all that, I headed west on Wilbeth Road. The people in this neighborhood seemed really happy to see me. Four people thanked me and said they see me all over. When I got to Sylvan and Wilbeth, I saw accident debris. Another lamp post luring a car in.
This area looked clean driving by, but it was not! I was out 3 1/2 hours and picked up 3,228 pieces of trash tonight. That's a very big night.
There used to be a car repair shop here, but I guess it went out of business. The grass is a mess, and there was lots of trash. If you look down by the telephone pole, you will see it's very clean. While I was picking up trash here, there was a boy on a segway with a broom. He was cleaning like crazy! I was hoping to get a picture of him, but he was gone by the time I got there.
I'm pretty sure he did that for me. He saw me coming. I wish I could have thanked him for helping.
"Don't touch it! Call the police!"
Seriously? I really screwed that up. I touched it when I got home.
I called 911, and the police came right out to my house. I told them where I found it. They said it was an old bullet. New ones are shiny. And they told me I did the right thing.
One officer put on disposable gloves and put it in an evidence bag.
Big night.
It was a big night!
