VERY SCARY MOMENT TONIGHT!!!
Tonight had a very scary moment, and it wasn't when I found this knife. And it wasn't when I went through this dark underpass again.
Chances that anyone would lay on the horn to scare me again are pretty slim, I would think. That was just mean.
Right outside the underpass, this area was a mess.I picked up over 500 pieces of trash here.
Now it looks so clean driving by.And the next area had recently been brushhogged, I think. All the trash was shredded. Why do maintenance guys think that's a good idea?
The small pieces of plastic, styrofoam and glass aren't going anywhere.
It just looks trashy.
I picked up over 500 pieces of trash here too.
But just as I finished this area, a big brown dog came toward me. I said hello, but stayed back.
You never know if a dog is friendly, or if it sees me picking up stuff with a stick and thinks I'm a threat.
I found this part of a bike on the sidewalk!Who loses one pedal? That's crazy.
All of a sudden, the dog, sniffing around, noticed this dead animal in the middle of Arlington Road! And he dashed out there, in front of all these cars, trucks and buses! Four lanes of traffic! In front of the worst tempered drivers I've ever seen! They speed. They are loud. They throw crap out their car windows. They run through red lights. But you know what? Every single car stopped when they saw the dog in the middle of the road.
My heart was racing. I was making an OMG face, and then I saw the owner. The dog saw the owner too, and he bolted right down the middle of the road, under the overpass and disappeared. She ran after him. I thought, "This is not going to end well."
I still can't believe he's okay.
She said she was bringing him in when it started raining, and he got away from her.
Oh, how I'd hate to have a dog that likes to run away. I grew up with a little terrier, named Spunky, that ran away every chance he got. Henry & Stella would never run away from me. They love me.
I picked up 1,458 pieces of trash before it was raining too hard to keep going, but I got this area done. It looks completely different now.
That was a scary moment. I stopped for a squirrel yesterday and wasn't sure where he went. But he was okay.
ReplyDeleteGlad the dog is okay. Great that the drivers stopped too! The things you encounter when you are out are something. 🫣 Joyce
ReplyDeleteThe dog owner will probably be extra glad to see her dog safe and sound tonight when she goes to bed. I bet the dog is glad to be home too!

OMG I'm glad the dog story had a good ending. That would have been a horrible scene to witness had the vehicles not stopped and the owner not have shown up. Whew!
