ANOTHER HEARTBREAKING MOMENT PICKING UP TRASH!

Tonight, I planned to clean four areas that I clean often, so I didn't think they'd be too bad.  I left my house without putting on sunscreen, but as it turned out, I didn't need it.  It rained almost the whole time I was out.

I started at Main & Miller, an area that my friend, Tom, keeps clean, but the heat must be too much for him right now, so I thought I'd help him out.

I got that all cleaned up, and I crossed Main Street to empty my bag in a dumpster.  I continued down the sidewalk, because the traffic was too heavy to cross, and at the Chase drive through bank, I raced to get under a roof, because it poured down rain.

That's when I saw this big pile of children's books!  They were all soaked.  Some were award winners!  I love children's books more than anything, and it broke my heart to see them all ruined.  Who would do something like this?

I stayed under the roof until the rain slowed down, and then I started to clean the unbelievable amount of trash along that guard rail.

You can't really see it from a car, but you sure can see it on foot.

There were layers of styrofoam cups, cans and plastic bags.  It was one of those messes I wasn't sure I was going to finish, but I did.
It took three trips to the dumpster that was over a block away, but I got it all cleaned up.

I remember messes like this when I first started picking up trash.  I didn't think there were any like this left.

I was wrong.

While I was picking up all that trash and transporting it to the dumpster, the cars at the drive through were nonstop.  Nobody else sees it?  Nobody else cares?  That's incredible to me.

I picked up 2,076 pieces of trash, here, and I went back to my car and headed to the next place on my list, even though I only had one hour left.

It was the Dollar Store on Main.  It looked pretty good driving by, and it didn't take me very long to clean all around the building, the parking lot and the sidewalk.

I was almost done, and I saw this awful mess!

It was behind the dumpster enclosure.

It looks like the homeless people got a bag of receipts, bags and price tags, opened it up and scattered it.

I was so happy I saw it before the wind carried it all over the city!

I got it all cleaned up, and here's the best part!  It took 7 minutes!  Only 7 minutes to clean up a giant mess that awful!  I'm getting so fast!

I went inside the store and showed the manager the pictures.  There's no way their employees would clean up a mess like this, but they should.  And they should empty their bags in the dumpster instead of throwing whole bags in.

The people who made this mess will be shocked when they come back tonight and it's all cleaned up.

I picked up 3,380 pieces of trash tonight.

It was a very good night.

  2. Too bad the person that threw those books out didn’t donate to the library instead.
