I'M IN A BRAND NEW AREA!!!
Tonight, I went to an area I clean every week, and when I got out of my car, I saw all these bottles, five of them mostly full of pop and juice!
It's bad enough that somebody just dumps their trash in the parking lot when they leave, but they don't even drink the stuff they pay for? That's crazy!
And look how creative this person was with their water bottle! Is it still "littering" when you don't throw your trash on the ground?Yes, I'm afraid it's still "littering."
I saw all this trash along a fence across the street on Arlington, so I deviated from my plan and crossed the road.I got that all cleaned up and noticed dark clouds rolling in. I was pretty far away from my car, and I heard the storms were supposed to be nasty, but I kept hoping it would blow over.
And it did.
Do you see the Akron police officer watching me across the street? He watched me pick up trash for over an hour. I felt very safe in this new area with a police officer watching over me.
I continued working my way south on Arlington, and there was SO MUCH TRASH! Wow! I was picking up trash as fast as I could count. It doesn't look that bad driving by, but cups and napkins and bottles are down in the grass. Nobody ever picks up the trash here. They just mow over it.
And they should pick up the trash here. It's so pretty when it's clean.I picked up 3,073 pieces tonight. It was a big night for trash, and tomorrow, I'll continue where I left off. There's so much more to pick up.This bus stop was an awful mess. The trash can was knocked over, and trash was scattered all over the sidewalk. I got it all cleaned up. I hope it's still clean when I come back here tomorrow.
I've never cleaned this side of Arlington before. I'm going to walk from the I-76 exit ramp to the I-77 entrance ramp. That's a five mile stretch that has some clean spots, because I cleaned them, but there's a lot of trash.
I'm guessing it will take me a couple of weeks, so by the time I finish that, all my other areas will need cleaned.
By adding one street at a time, eventually, I'll cover the whole city of Akron!
Good grief. What a lot of trash! Great job!
ReplyDeleteAmazing what one person can do! You are amazing!!!! Imagine how clean the City of Akron would be if the City had a cleaning crew! 🤔
