IT WAS A HOT ONE TODAY!!!

Oh, it was a hot one today!  I had my son's dog for 10 days, so this morning, I drove to Columbus to take her home.  We spent four hours at a dog park that has baby pools for the dogs.  They loved it!  (I should have gotten in too!  I was so hot!)

After being in the sun all day and driving four hours, I wasn't going to pick up trash, but I changed my mind.  I had three areas that I wanted to clean, all new trash.

The first area was the Family Dollar at Main & Wilbeth.  I saw it had new trash, and the store was closed for some reason, so it was easy for me to pick up trash without worrying about cars.
I noticed that their cardboard box was full again.  Good that people are trying to dispose of their trash properly, but geez!  Why can't they empty it before it's really heavy and gross?
As I was pulling that to the dumpster, I spotted a liquor bottle in the corner.  So glad I found that before it was smashed.
And when I was walking back to the car, I saw this liquor bottle in the grass, right by the road.  People just love to throw liquor bottles around.
I'm sure they'll notice when they come in tomorrow.  It looks so clean.

I picked up 711 pieces of trash around the building and along the sidewalk, and it only took 45 minutes.  It doesn't take long to really make a difference.

So I left there and went to the pizza shop at Wilbeth & Arlington.  I picked up 651 pieces of trash there in 40 minutes.  I love this area.  It's so easy to pick up.

Just one more area to clean, Arlington by the Aldi Store. I just cleaned it a couple of days ago, and it was all trashed up again.  Well, it looked trashed up, but I only picked up 331 big pieces of trash from the auto parts store to the bus stop at the Aldi.  I had this attitude, "Go ahead and make a mess!  I'll keep coming back.  You're not going to stop me!"

As I was cleaning the sidewalk by the bus stop, two dare devil motorcyclists came roaring by.  They always scare me.

And then this full grown woman went driving by, on Arlington, which is a crazy busy street, in this tiny pink toy car!  I've never seen anything like that!

There was a person walking down the sidewalk, and she stopped and stared with me.  "Did you ever see anything like that?" I said.  "Can't say that I have," she replied.

So I headed for home, and I noticed that the entrance ramp from Wilbeth Road to Route 8 was really messy.  It was 9:00, and getting dark, but I thought I could at least pick up some of it.  I don't see trash like this very much in my neighborhood anymore.

I got it all!

I picked up 267 big pieces of trash, including these heavy metal things. They were on the road.  Can you imagine hitting something like that first piece?  It could really do some damage to your car.

As soon as I got home, the dogs were waiting for their walk.  I picked up 12 pieces of trash walking around my block, so I picked up 1,972 pieces altogether today.

I'm so glad I went out.  It's always rewarding to think about how much I accomplish.
