MAIN STREET BARBERTON IS DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB!

I know I told you I only wanted to post to my blog once a week, but this is too good to wait until Sunday!

Tonight I went to Barberton to volunteer for Main Street Barberton.  Their cleanup is the second Saturday of each month, but I can't make it this Saturday.

Look at this trash can by the bus stop!  It's completely full!  People are throwing their trash in the trash cans like they should!

I picked up a few pieces on the ground, but it looks like people are really trying not to litter.

After the story on Channel 5, the 30 minute talk on WNIR Radio, Keep Akron Beautiful, Keep America Beautiful, and the Mayor's social media posts, and today's Channel 3 interview, I am hoping that millions of people pick up litter across the United States!

It's so thrilling for me to see how excited people are that I picked up a million pieces of trash!

When I started cleaning Wooster Road tonight, there was very little to pick up.  As I crossed this road, I stepped on a piece of metal.  I took a picture of it and then picked it up.

That could have hurt somebody.

I found two containers of Depends.  I took off my glove, and felt them. They were dry, so I left them there.  Maybe somebody needs those.
At the corner of Hopocan and Wooster Road, I cleaned this area again.  It was pretty bad, but way easier to clean this time than the first time.
Then I continued around this big area, and it was easy to clean too.  I found lots of bags, napkins, bottles and fast food containers, typical stuff that blows in the wind.

The first time I cleaned this area, I filled bags and bags of trash.  This time, not even one bag full!

When I got back on Wooster Road, I found a lot of cigarette butts between the Rally's and the laundromat.  I got them all picked up.

I met several nice people tonight who asked what I was doing.  I told them I was volunteering for Main Street Barberton.  What a difference they have made in this city!  With all the festivals going on around Lake Anna, it's so nice to have an organized group keeping the city clean.  What they are doing is noticeable.

I picked up 2,154 pieces of trash in 2 1/2 hours.

I feel so good about doing my part to keep "The Magic City" magical!
