ENTRANCE RAMP FROM MAIN STREET TO I-277
I thought I had three hours to clean Waterloo & Main, all four corners, but when is the weather report ever right?
I only had 1 1/2 hours and only picked up 1,346 pieces of trash, but it was time well spent.
Entrance and exit ramps are always a mess. That's because people are either starting their journey, or ending it, and their garbage goes out the window before they get on the freeway, or before they get home.
I picked up over 800 pieces of trash at the Sheetz and this entrance and exit ramp.
I found the rack from a grill? Is that what this is?And I found the vegetable drawer from a refrigerator, all smashed on the sidewalk.I cleaned the left side of the grass at Sheetz, and look how much nicer it looks than the right side. All of this was new trash, so it was very easy to pick up.The exit ramp had bolts, all kinds of metal things and needles. I would hate to think somebody was using a needle before they got on the freeway, but that's how it looks. Scary thought. There must have been a party at the exit ramp. At least the bottles were unbroken. So much easier to clean up.After I finished this, I went to the Speedway, and picked up over 500 pieces before the rain started.
I love cleaning these areas every week. They're still pretty messy, but it doesn't take long to clean them up.
I'm so happy with the way things are going. The weather is good, and I've picked up 110,000 pieces toward my new goal of two million. I've been pushing myself, because it's getting dark earlier, and after the time falls back, I won't be able to pick up trash in the evenings. Only weekends. If they'd only leave the time the way it is. I would love that.
Tomorrow, I'm going to clean a street I've never cleaned before. That should be fun!
You are so positive Debbie! Most people don’t get excited about cleaning up trash in a new area! Your friend Debby😁
