LOOK AT THE STUFF I FOUND TONIGHT!!!
I had three areas on my list for tonight. The first was Wilbeth Road, from Route 8 to Arlington (very far!) The second was Waterloo & Main. The third was the exit ramp from Route 8 to Wilbeth Road.
When I drove by the exit ramp, it was CLEAN! There are two full bags sitting there. I wonder if someone saw me and thought, "I can do that too!" Thank you so much, whoever did that!
When I got to the first area, I saw a woman and a little boy struggling with a MASSIVE canvas bag of trash (in the field behind them.) They would take two steps and stop. Take two steps and stop.
I hurried up and got my trash cart over to them, and I helped them put it on my trash can.
I don't think she knew what to think. (She was very grateful.)
I found crazy stuff tonight.Look at this laptop thrown in the weeds!
I know I should have put in an electronics recycling bin, but I don't have time to figure out how to do that. It went into the dumpster.
And look at this! I found four Mercedes-Benz floor mats, also in the weeds! They are in good condition.I started to throw them in the dumpster, but I decided not to. No idea what I'll do with them. I'll probably throw them away, but not quite yet.
(Now I just need a Mercedes-Benz to go with my floor mats!)
And I found a toaster oven between the road and the sidewalk.Who throws an appliance on the ground thinking the trash truck will pick it up.
(Guess what? They won't!)
And this is a crazy story! I was all the way to Arlington, cleaning the parking lot of the pizza place, and I heard a loud noise like glass breaking. There was a guy backing up. He heard it too. So he pulled forward and ran over it again! Then he backed up, and ran over it a third time!
OMG! I just stood there and watched. He rolled his window down and said, "Was that glass?" I just shook my head. And he drove off. I wonder if he gave any thought at all to who was going to clean that mess up?
Luckily, I always have my broom and dustpan attached to my trash cart, and I swept it all up before anybody else ran over it.And later, I found a tequila box in the road at Virginia & Wilbeth. When I see these boxes, I start looking for the liquor bottle. It's always pretty close by, and I try to find it before it gets smashed.
Sure enough, I found it! I was almost back to my car, and I saw this big U-shaped piece of metal on the side of the road. It was so heavy, my trash grabber couldn't lift it, so I waited until the cars went by and stepped onto the road and picked it up.I wonder what it was and how it got there. That could have done serious damage if it was hit right.
I was out four hours, and I walked four miles. I picked up 4,925 pieces of trash. And I'm tired.
I was in the parking lot where my car was waiting for me, and I saw what looked like a white trash bag near the grass. I thought I better pick that up because the parking lot was clean, so I walked over there, and . . .
It wasn't a trash bag! It was a kitty cat!Usually wild cats run from me, but this one loved me! If it would have jumped into my car, I would have brought it home, but it took off when I started my engine.
What a great day!
