TONIGHT WAS A PERFECT NIGHT! NO DRAMA!

Tonight, I started at Wilbeth & Main.  Driving by, I knew it needed attention, even though the July 4th weekend will be messy. It'll probably need cleaned again tomorrow, but that's okay.  I like cleaning this area.

I saw their cardboard box trash can was overflowing again, and keep in mind, this is the same box I've been emptying for over a month.  Ick!  It's in pretty bad shape.

(I know it's the same box, because I put a folded up box on the bottom since there's a gap, and it's still there.)

When I first arrived, I cleaned all around this parking lot, and I noticed there were five piles of broken glass.  I started picking up the big pieces, and a man walked up to me.  He said, "If you have a few dollars, I would help you pick up all this glass.  I want food."

I felt bad for him, but I told him, "I'm sorry, I don't get paid for picking up trash.  If you want money, you'll have to go inside and see if there's anything you can do."

When I checked with the manager later, he never went inside.  I'm kinda thinking they would love to hire him to work in the store.  How about that idea?  Actually working for money?

The manager told me they are short handed and can't pick up the trash.  There was a lot of it.  I looked at my phone to see what time it was and planned on timing myself to see how long it takes to pick up all this trash.

But halfway, two cars drove in and parked really close to me.  I thought that was strange.  One of the guys said, "Are you the woman that picked up a million pieces of trash?"  I smiled and told them yes.  And then I told them I'm going to pick up another million pieces in half the time!  He grinned from ear to ear and told the people in the other car what I said, and then they drove away!  How funny is that?  They only came into the parking lot to talk to me!

It only took me four minutes to clean up all this trash, even with a conversation with a very nice family!

Tell me why the employees don't have four minutes?

It makes such a huge difference when trash is picked up.

It's welcoming to pull into a parking lot that's clean and looks cared for.  Not only that, but it's dangerous trying to navigate through slippery fast food wrappers and broken glass.

What's wrong with people?  It's common sense!

I cleaned all four corners at Wilbeth & Main, and I found these two big car parts on the side of the road!  Wow!  I sure would hate to run over either one of those, especially the metal thing.

I picked up 1,669 pieces of trash on all four corners, and walked for blocks east on Wilbeth.  There were a few pieces I wanted to pick up, and I'm glad I did.  Now it looks so much better.

Then I headed to Main & Waterloo, the Speedway. I picked up 1,190 pieces here, and even though that's a lot, it's way less than usual.  I was pleased.

So my timer went off, and I headed for home, really happy to have such an easy night.

And I saw this mess on Main Street, right beside the new Mexican Restaurant!  Ick!

I turned around and went back, and I cleaned that up.  From the Speedway to the Family Dollar on Main Street, it's pretty clean.  Can't have a mess like this.

I picked up 115 pieces in this spot.  Won't the people who made this mess be surprised when they come back?  I'm going to add this spot to my list of places to keep clean.  It'll never be like it was again.  It only took five minutes to pick all that up.

This is the 4th of July holiday weekend.  I'm going to pick up a lot of trash, especially fireworks debris, but only in the evenings.  The rest of the day, I'm going to play with my dogs and do the things I love.

And I think I'm going to find a pulled pork sandwich somewhere!  Yum!
