WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LAWS?

I went to dinner with a friend, so I was an hour late getting started tonight, but as I drove to the exit ramp from I-76 to Arlington, I thought about how people don't obeys laws much anymore.  I was stopped at a light and a loose dog was trotting around in the intersection.  A police officer happened to be stopped at the light to the right of me.  The dog went right up to the window of the police officer.  Wow!

I saw a group of women cross the street when cars were coming both ways, four fast lanes of traffic.

I see cars going 80 mph in 35 mph zones, and every car but me turns right when there's a NO TURN ON RED sign.

And I saw a couple of motorcycles veer off the main road and do wheelies in the yard of Children's Services.

What's wrong with people?

There was so much trash around the exit ramp, I never made  it to the ramp.  I saw this trash in the weeds by the fence.  I figured there was more than I thought.

Sure enough, there was all kinds of stuff there.  Somebody worked really hard to conceal their garbage, even though there was a city trash can five feet away.

When I started picking up trash years ago, it was very hard to know where to start.  There was so much on every street.  So where do you start?  Anywhere.  Just start.

I think the Akron Police need to start enforcing some laws.  Any laws.  Maybe not littering laws right now.  It can be down on the list, but start enforcing something.

The people in Akron have gone WILD!

I found a rake and broken fluorescent lights in the grass.  What a mess that was to clean up.  Fluorescent light glass is as thin as paper.

And it gets worse . . .

When I was cleaning up along the fence, I found a pair of shorts. I picked them up to put them in my bucket, and there were two snakes in them.  Never had that before.

I threw the shorts in the trash can.  I left the snakes to find a new home.

This field was such a mess.  How can people stand it?  I know it hasn't been cleaned since I was there last.
It looks nice now.
Cleaning along this sidewalk is scary.  Look how close the cars are.  I sure don't want to swing my arm out.  I'd lose it.
I crossed the street and cleaned in front of Children's Services.  I found another board with nails sticking out, with the nails pointing up, right on the sidewalk.  So glad I didn't step on that.

And even worse, I found three pairs of pants on the steps.  All three were poopy.  So gross!

I put them in my recycle bin so they didn't fill up my trash bag, and I could hardly breathe.

At the light, there was broken glass all the way to the corner.

People were waiting for the light to change, and everybody saw me picking up glass.  What were they thinking?

I always wonder if people are ashamed that they drive by messes like this, and I'm the only one who cares enough to clean it up.

It looks nice now.

I'm over 100,000 pieces on my second million.  I'm a little behind, and I know before I know it, darkness will fall at 5:00, and snow will cover the ground, so I have to work as hard as I can now if I want to reach my two-million-piece goal by next summer.

I picked up 2,386 pieces in two hours tonight, and the dog cage was picked up, so it was a very good day.
