I LOVE TALKING TO THE KITTY CATS!

Tonight, I had two areas I wanted to clean.  I was pretty sure they both needed attention, but I only finished one.

I picked up 2,843 pieces of trash (lots of broken glass,) and I would have picked up more if I hadn't spent so much time talking to the kitty cats!

I parked my car and headed to the first dumpster, because it was overflowing.  (Not this one.)  I got everything piled on top, like a circus act, and I sure hope they empty it soon.

The second dumpster (this one) was also a huge mess, especially on the right side, where you can't see.  There was patio furniture sitting there with cat poop all over it.  I lifted a corner, and it wasn't real heavy, so I threw all three pieces into the dumpster.

A little boy was dragging a big Brute trash can across the yard, and I told him, "Wait!  I'll help!"  And together we were able to dump it into the dumpster.  What were his parents thinking?  That was way too heavy for him.

He shook his head and said, "Why do people make such a mess?"

I was so happy to hear him say that.  I think he'll turn out okay.

I swept up a bag of flour as good as I could, and picked up all the trash in front, on both sides and behind the dumpster.  What a difference that made!

A little later, I saw two little girls with two small bags of trash, heading for the dumpster.  When I passed it on my way back to my car, I saw they just left the bags in front of the dumpster.

Shame on them!  I had it all cleaned up!  The bags were not heavy.  Why don't people put their trash in the dumpsters?  If I can throw patio furniture in, they should be able to throw a trash bag in!

I'm glad I went to this area tonight, because it was pretty bad.

I saw a good friend I've known since I started picking up trash.  She got her hair done and looked beautiful.  She asked me what we can do about all the broken glass?  I told her I don't know.

I walked and walked and walked and got the trash all picked up.

When I was almost done, I saw a pretty woman walking toward me.  When she got close, I looked up and smiled and said, "Hi!  How are you today!"  And I noticed that her face was all red, and she was crying.  I felt terrible.  I've never had that happen before.

When she was walking back past me, I apologized and told her I didn't know she was upset.  She said she lost her phone and her cat got hit by a car.  I told her if I find her phone, I'll be sure to get it back to her.

I was headed back to my car after a very good day.  I really look forward to picking up trash at 5:00.  I find all kinds of crazy things, and sometimes I find money.  I meet some super nice people, and when I look back at the area I cleaned, I see that I transformed another dump site into a park.  That feeling never gets old.

I saw two kitty cats watching my every move.  I feel bad there are so many cats running loose, but I love talking to them.

  1. I passed a young girl crying on my walk one evening. I asked if she was okay. She didn't say anything so I kept walking. I felt really bad.
