I MADE A GOOD DECISION THIS MORNING

I made a good decision when I woke up and decided to keep cleaning the Wilbeth Arlington Properties.  Tonight I went back to the last area I didn't clean on Sunday.  Remember, my big 6,721 piece, 5 1/2 hour marathon?

I picked up 2,643 pieces of trash in this area tonight.  This is how the playground looks now.

You can see there are no children.  When I left tonight, the playground was full of laughter.

This is how it looked when I started.
There were water bottle and pop bottle caps all through the mulch, hundreds of them!

It's been a while since I had little kids.  Don't they put everything in their mouths?  Sure looks like choking hazards to me.

And wait until you see these "weapons" I found around the playground.

This was some kind of metal thing.

This looked like a handle of some kind.
I think this was part of window blinds.
And I have no idea what this rusty metal thing was.

All of these dangerous things were around the playground where children could pick them up and swing them at each other.  Wow.

I saw this pile of garbage and had to keep picking at it and walking away.

I'm used to big messes, but this one kinda made me sick.

I got it all cleaned up.
I cleaned up this broken window glass beside a diaper.  Really?
And when I picked up this container, it was full of ants.

Even though I picked it up with my trash grabber and shoved it in my trash bag as fast as I could, I still had ants crawling up my arm.  So disgusting.

At the very end, I found a box of fireworks debris and pieces of fireworks all over the grass.  It was just laying there by the sidewalk.  Did the person setting off the fireworks think it would clean itself up?

No, the person setting off the fireworks didn't think at all.

I still feel bad the management didn't think what I do for them was worth paying for, but I'm not doing it for them.  I'm doing it for the kids who deserve better than this.

  2. Debbie another amazing accomplishment! You have such a caring heart, I just wished someone would recognize the value of what you are doing to keep adults, children and animals safe by paying you for your hard work and reimburse you for the cost of the supplies!

  3. The property management is awful! They let trash like that pile up, especially the playground for kids! Disgusting! I hope the kids help keep their area clean with you. What a bonus that would be. Joyce

  5. The kids and families may not know to thank you, but they have a safe and clean place to play. I used to be grateful when I took my kids to clean playgrounds. In fact if they were all icky and covered in trash, we didn’t stay! So as a parent, thank you for keeping kids safe.
