Because I had a big work project to finish, I didn't pick up trash for three days. Today was such a beautiful day, so I was excited to go to Barberton and pick up trash around the Giant Eagle at Robinson & 5th.
Driving by, it looked really clean, but there was a lot of trash that needed picked up. I picked up 3,064 pieces of trash in 3 1/2 hours! That's a lot of trash!
It was in the mulch.
It was hiding in the bushes. It was all over the grass between the sidewalk and the road.Lots and lots of cigarette butts and trash that had been mowed over.I saw this green thing in the parking lot. I opened it up and saw it belonged to H & R Block. So I took it over to their store and folded it up. I'm sure they'll appreciate that. It's still in good shape.I saw people rummaging through these clothes at the clothing drop off box. I picked all the trash out of it and put all the clothes in the cardboard box.I'm thinking maybe I should have put the clothing in the container, but I didn't. If it's still there tomorrow, I will.
I made it all the way to the Dollar Store. I heard something coming behind me. It was a bunch of geese walking by single file. That was pretty cool.I'm excited to clean every street in Barberton, because the city does such a nice job keeping the trash picked up. I'm finding all the trash that can't be seen driving by. What I had hoped to do in Akron, I'm going to do in Barberton.
A couple of people asked me if I worked for the city. I told them sort of. "I volunteer for Main Street Barberton."
I'm hoping lots of people volunteer and keep their city clean and beautiful.
Maybe Barberton will be a model city! Wouldn't that be nice?
It would be very nice.
