I REPAID A KINDNESS . . .

Yesterday, I was cleaning trash on Wooster Road, and I was 1.4 miles from my car, and I had to go to the bathroom.  I hoped I could make it back, but I could not.  I stopped at this drive thru, and they obviously did not have a public restroom, but he was kind enough to let me use their private restroom.

I went back tonight and cleaned all around the building, 274 pieces after picking up a lot yesterday, and then I went inside and thanked him for his kindness.  I gave him a trash grabber and a bucket.  I wish you could have seen the look on his face!  I'm sure he wasn't expecting me to ever come back.  I was so embarrassed!

If he uses the trash grabber and bucket, just a few minutes a week, he can keep all the cigarette butts and trash picked up.

I went back to the Barberton Sports Complex and continued west on Wooster Road.

I found a lot of trash, besides this 2-liter bottle, around these railroad tracks.

Why is there always trash around railroad tracks?

And I found a whole bunch of heavy wires.

Can you imagine getting tangled up in that driving by?  Especially on a bike or a motorcycle?

I found a big nail and a bolt on the road!  I'm always so happy to find those.
And this green thing.  I don't know what it was.  It was plastic, but not flexible.
And lots of car parts tonight.  This one was as big as my trash can!
Somebody was being creative by shoving their pop cup in the drain.  I'm wondering if that could plug things up.  Maybe.

Why would anyone do that?  It was so tight, I had a hard time getting it out!

And I found this big roll of plastic.  Not sure what it was, but it filled up my trash bag.
And then \I found all these cups and bottles. Must have been a little party here.

I picked up 1,646 pieces of trash in 2 1/2 hours, and I'm tired.  It was almost dark when I got back to my car.  That's a little scary, and I have to drive home and then take Henry & Stella for their walk.  I can do that in the dark.  There are lots of streetlights in my neighborhood, but I think I'll take tomorrow off.  Picking up trash tonight was very good, but exhausting.

SO MANY PEOPLE SEE ME PICKING UP TRASH!  I wish more people would join in.  It's so rewarding to find all this nasty stuff and dispose of it properly.
